Baseball Recap: Petrolia Wins Going Away Against Olney

Petrolia made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Olney, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Pirates put the hurt on the Cubs with a sharp 11-5 victory on Tuesday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Brodie Jackson was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Jackson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, John Dagenais was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sawyer Dunn, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Petrolia now has a winning record of 6-5-2. As for Olney, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7-1.

Petrolia will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cubs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
