Ballard has gone 8-2 against Seattle Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Ballard will be playing at home against Seattle Prep at 4:00 p.m. Ballard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Ballard is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Washington's top teams: Garfield, who was ranked second at the time (Ballard was ranked tenth). Ballard won by a run and slipped past Garfield 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.
Colette Howren made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Howren was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Davis, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Wren Wald, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Seattle Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Roosevelt, falling 9-1.
Hayden Downer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Libby Jenness was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base.
Seattle Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Ballard, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Seattle Prep's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ballard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. It's a different story for Seattle Prep, though, as they've only averaged .191. Will they be able to contain Ballard's hitters?
Everything went Ballard's way against Seattle Prep in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Ballard made off with an 18-8 victory. Will Ballard repeat their success, or does Seattle Prep has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
