Yuma Catholic has gone a perfect 10-0 against Parker recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Shamrocks are taking a road trip to take on the Broncs at 3:45 p.m. Yuma Catholic is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Yuma Catholic's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Friday, when they got past Kingman's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Shamrocks blew past the Bulldogs 18-2. The Shamrocks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Leonel Avelar was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Erik Topete was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Joey Carey, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Yuma Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingman only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, Parker came up short against ALA - West Foothills on Friday, falling 14-1.
Parker saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oscar Ortega, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Yuma Catholic pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Parker, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Parker's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Yuma Catholic has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. It's a different story for Parker, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Yuma Catholic's hitters?
Yuma Catholic took their victory against Parker in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shamrocks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
