The South Park Burros are taking a road trip to take on the Custer County Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. South Park has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
South Park came up short against Clear Creek last Friday, falling 14-3. The Burros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Blake Basnett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Custer County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the Rams 29-1. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Wyatt Grundy made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Grundy was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Custer County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-6 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colt Moulton, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Mason Simmons was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Custer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .857. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Custer County's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.0 runs over those games. As for South Park, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
South Park suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Custer County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Burros avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
