Midtown waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the M.L. King Lions 74-11. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 84-8 back in December of 2024.
Midtown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cate Barton led the charge by putting up eight points along with ten boards and six steals. Hailey Wortmann was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Midtown was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as M.L. King only posted three assists.
M.L. King's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taliyah Reid, who posted three points and nine boards. Reid is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played.
Midtown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for M.L. King, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Midtown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-14 victory against Paideia on the 18th. M.L. King has also already played their next matchup, a 62-37 defeat against Coretta Scott King YWLA on the 20th.
