After flying high against the Park City Miners last Tuesday, the Brighton Bengals came back down to earth. Brighton took a 71-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Logan on Wednesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Bengals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Mawhinney, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The game was Mawhinney's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nash Matheson, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
It was another big night for Jordan Child, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds for Logan. That makes it three consecutive games in which Child has scored at least 25% of Logan's points. Will Parkinson was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Brighton's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Logan, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Brighton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pleasant Grove at 7:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. One thing working in Pleasant Grove's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Logan will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northridge is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
