Central California Athletic Alliance recap October 1, 2013
Millennium moved up to 942 from 992 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Central California Athletic Alliance. The Falcons climbed the ranks as a result of topping Livermore Valley Prep 34-6.
Brookside Christian was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Knights defeated Bret Harte 58-12.
Estevon Herrera was a passing and rushing force as Stone Ridge Christian bested West Campus.
Herrera was a force in the backfield as the Knights beat the Warriors.
Vito Merritt made the biggest impact on defense this week as Big Valley Christian bested Valley Christian. The 5-foot-11 freshman racked up 3.0 sacks.
Austin Caldron threw for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 19-30 with 1 interception.
Herrera was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 257 yards as Stone Ridge Christian defeated the Bullfrogs. Jaime Trevino also contributed to the rushing game with 99 yards on the ground.
Sam Sears' team's Caldron and Oliver Jr. have formed a dream team this season, leading Central California Athletic Alliance in both passing and receiving yards. Caldron has thrown for 954 yards this season, while Oliver Jr., a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 22 catches for 256 yards. Arthur De Jager's team's Herrera leads the league in rushing yards with 590.
The Knights and West Campus played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Knights eventually emerging with a 19-14 victory. Herrera ran for 257 yards in the win.
