Basketball Recap: Overton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Kingsbury

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Overton). They blew past the Kingsbury Falcons, posting an 87-42 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Wolverines as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Overton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Freddy Ards, who went 9 of 12 en route to 22 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. Those 22 points gave Ards a new career-high. Devion Murray was another key player, dropping a triple-double on 17 points, 13 boards, and ten assists.

Ards wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Overton was working as a unit and finished the game with 31 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Overton's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-11. As for Kingsbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-17.

Overton will challenge Memphis East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Overton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Kingsbury, they will square off against Memphis Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kingsbury is facing Memphis Central at the right time seeing as Memphis Central is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
