The White Oak Vikings entered their tilt with the Richlands Wildcats with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. White Oak walked away with a 41-34 victory over the Wildcats on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as White Oak also won the last time the pair played last Wednesday.
Denniyah Tanner continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with four steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of White Oak's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamarah Rawls, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Richlands' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mia Wells, who scored nine points along with six steals. Wells has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Tashi Allen was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
White Oak's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-9. As for Richlands, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. White Oak will square off against the Patriots at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. West Carteret is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. As for Richlands, they will head out on the road to take on the Pirates at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Swansboro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
