For the first time this season, Mangum will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against the Cordell Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cordell took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mangum, who comes in off a win.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Mangum and Blair, and Mangum kept the tradition alive. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Broncos on Monday.
Derek Hamon made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Hamon was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, Mangum got a massive performance out of Jackson Brooks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Clayton Caskey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Mangum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blair only posted an OBP of .077.
Meanwhile, Cordell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Sentinel.
Like Mangum, Cordell also got a great game from a two-way player: C Gregg. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Gregg was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jaxon Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Z Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Mangum pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10.2 runs thus far. As for Cordell, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything went Mangum's way against Cordell when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Mangum made off with a 20-3 win. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
