The Meeteetse Longhorns fought the good fight in their overtime game against Non Varsity Opponent on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the 69-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Meeteetse saw an underclassman step up: Max Potas dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. Potas has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Salzman, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Meeteetse dropped their record down to 8-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Non Varsity Opponent, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 127-231-1.
Meeteetse will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Huskies at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Wyoming (Burlington is ranked 48th, while the Longhorns are ranked 36th). As for Non Varsity Opponent, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on January 31st.
