The Jacksonville Golden Eagles and the Decatur Red Raiders will round out the year against one another at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday at. Hopefully Jacksonville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Thursday.
After a string of four wins, Jacksonville's good fortune finally ran out. They fell just short of Anniston by a score of 46-44.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Aaron Nixon, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. The game was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquan Ervin, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Decatur made easy work of Clements on Tuesday and carried off a 64-44 win. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Clements is ranked 377th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacksonville's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4. As for Decatur, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
