The Coahulla Creek Colts waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe 69-54. Given Coahulla Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe is ranked 454th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coahulla Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Quarles, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Quarles has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cullen Marti, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Coahulla Creek pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Coahulla Creek won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northwest Whitfield at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, they will head out on the road to take on LaFayette at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
