Northern Durham has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Northern Durham was the victim of a tough 64-40 loss at the hands of the Wildcats.
In what's become a running theme this season, Hillside gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 59-11 win over Riverside-Durham. Given Hillside's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Pirates are ranked 516th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hillside can attribute much of their success to Kayden Sims, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Samiyah Barker, who scored 16 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sims has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alima Shah, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Northern Durham dropped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.6 points per game. As for Hillside, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Northern Durham took a serious blow against the Hornets when the teams last played back in January, falling 72-14. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Northern Durham was down 48-13.
