Basketball Recap: Life Center Academy Piles Up the Points Against Liguori Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Life Center Academy). They blew past the Liguori Academy Falcons 77-34 on Thursday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 184th in New Jersey, while the Falcons are ranked 413th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Rasheem Yon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 10 of 17 on his way to 24 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Dunkley-Hamilton, who went 7 of 14 en route to 20 points and six rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Liguori Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amir Washington went 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points. Another player making a difference was Daviel Calderon, who posted nine points.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Life Center Academy, bringing their record for this year to 7-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points per game. As for Liguori Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Life Center Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 96-67 defeat against Varsity Opponent on the 20th. As for Liguori Academy, they will be taking part in a tournament against Hatboro-Horsham at 11:30 a.m. on December 29th. Hatboro-Horsham has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
