The Elbert County Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Franklin County Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Elbert County had to settle for a 6-5 loss against Hart County. Elbert County has not had much luck with Hart County recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Meanwhile, the matchup between Franklin County and Rabun County on Friday hardly resembled the 1-1 effort from their previous meeting. Neither Franklin County nor Rabun County could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 4-4 draw. Even though they lost, Franklin County's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 3 goals per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
They hit Rabun County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Jordis Haselden (2),
Myla Strattton, and
Hartley Brannon.
Elbert County's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. With that draw, Franklin County's record moves to 1-0-1.
Elbert County skirted past Franklin County 4-3 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Elbert County repeat their success, or does Franklin County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
