Grand Valley is 2-8 against Olathe since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Pirates at 2:00 p.m. Grand Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
14 must be Grand Valley's lucky number: they beat Non Varsity Opponent with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Non Varsity Opponent. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Zalas Richards made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Grand Valley is undefeated when Richards posts two or more runs, but 3-12 otherwise.
In other batting news, Andrew Palcer and Tyler Palcer did most of the damage at the plate: Andrew went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Tyler went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Waylon Panter, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and two RBI.
Grand Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They are 5-2 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Olathe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 18-3 to Basalt.
Olathe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Robertson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. Adrian Luna was another, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Olathe's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Grand Valley, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grand Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Olathe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Grand Valley might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Olathe when the teams last played on April 1st. Will the Cardinals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
