Milford is 0-3 against Manti since March of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Milford Tigers will take on the Manti Templars in a tournament on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Milford has six straight wins, Manti has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Manti's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Milford hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Milford's pitchers stepped up to hand Water Canyon a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Kilo Tsosie was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in home runs. Toby LaOrange was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Milford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Manti came up short against Beaver on Saturday, falling 14-4.
Manti saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Cherry, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Milford pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Manti, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Manti's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Milford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .364. It's a different story for Manti, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Milford's hitters?
Milford suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Manti when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can Milford avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
