The Rosman Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 29 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Owen 68-32 on the road. Given Rosman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while Owen is ranked 536th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rosman to victory, but perhaps none more so than Marlee Carnathan, who scored 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for her. Lexi Powell (sykes) was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Despite the loss, Owen still got an impressive performance from Ellie Martin, who scored 13 points. Martin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Roland, who scored eight points.
Rosman's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Owen, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rosman will take on Draughn at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Owen, they will be playing at home against NCSSM: Morganton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. NCSSM: Morganton comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
