Baseball Recap: Christian Academy's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Christian Academy hadn't done well against Trinity Lutheran recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Jonah Whitehead made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Christian Academy is 5-1 when Whitehead posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adrien Bryson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Monroe Beardsley, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Christian Academy, bringing their record up to 7-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Trinity Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Christian Academy has already played their next contest, an 11-1 loss against Lanesville on the 15th. As for Trinity Lutheran, they will face off against Borden at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
