Callie Smith spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and -1 unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Treasure Coast saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Echeverria, who went 3-for-5 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Vero Beach came up short against Martin County on Thursday and fell 12-8. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Carlee Reeves was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one double. Those stolen bases were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trinity Bishop, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Vero Beach's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Treasure Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Vero Beach's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Treasure Coast has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. It's a different story for Vero Beach, though, as they've only averaged .360. Will they be able to contain Treasure Coast's hitters?
Treasure Coast might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Vero Beach in their previous meeting back in February. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
