The biggest upset of the week belonged to University, who took down 220th ranked University, 31-28. Derrion Alexander threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 112 yards in the win.
Traynham Moore and Christian Simms provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Crowley. The longest such play in 4A Region I District 8 this season, the connection resulted in 86 yards.
Waco's dynamic duo of Moore and Simms proved tough for the Eagles to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Moore threw for 277 yards and one touchdown and Simms had 110 yards receiving. Trey Boggess helped Waco's passing attack out by catching five balls for 83 yards.
Larry Cheeks was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 174 yards on 23 carries as Crowley fell to Crowley. Teammate Dalonzo Freeman added to the ground attack by rushing for 67 yards.
Waco's Moore and Darron Jefferson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Moore has thrown for 1099 yards this season, while Jefferson has 13 catches for 347 yards. Cheeks from Chris James' team leads the league in rushing with 1128 yards.
A big matchup in 4A Region I District 8 this week will be when Marty Herbst's team takes on the Trojans. The Lions are in fourth place, while University is in second place.
The Eagles extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Waco, 35-29. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
