The Stanwood Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Jackson Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stanwood will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
On Saturday, Stanwood was able to grind out a solid win over Port Angeles, taking the game 6-1.

Gavin Gehrman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Gehrman wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Skyler McLain, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Corban Forslund was another, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Jackson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Monroe 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Timberwolves have posted since April 23, 2024.
Like Stanwood, Jackson also got a great game from a two-way player: Austin Halvorson. Throwing, Halvorson tossed 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Quinten Johns pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Halvorson posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At bat, Halvorson scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Johns scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Stanwood pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Jackson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stanwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Jackson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Stanwood couldn't quite get it done against Jackson in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
