Softball Recap: Wellington Wins Going Away Against Seminole Ridge

Wellington barely beat Seminole Ridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines blew past the Hawks 10-2 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Tori Payne made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Payne was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Wellington got a massive performance out of Kaylee Riles, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Molly Smith also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Wellington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February.

Wellington's record is now 14-4. As for Seminole Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.

Wellington and Seminole Ridge should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Wolverines (ranked 18th) will meet Dwyer (ranked 146th) at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Seminole Ridge will face off against Forest Hill at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (188 vs. 458).
