After soaring to 48 points the game before, The Cushing Bearkats were a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 28-7 walloping at the hands of Tenaha. Cushing was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Tenaha apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Tenaha's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brikelian Kenney, who threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Tenaha also got a significant boost from Jordan Reese, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.
Cushing are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Overton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70.8% over those games). As for Tenaha, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cushing will square off against Alto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alto comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Tenaha, they will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
