After only seven points in their last contest, Berthoud made sure to put some points up on the board against Moffat County on Friday. The Berthoud Spartans blew past the Moffat County Bulldogs 48-8 on the road. A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Skyler Streicher and his top target Jayden Michaelis. Streicher threw for 255 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes while Michaelis picked up 102 receiving yards and three touchdowns. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in total yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Berthoud was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 404 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moffat County only gained 193.
Moffat County's loss came despite strong showings from Zachary Hedman and Owen Hill. Hedman rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown, while Hill rushed for 67 yards on only six carries. Hill got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 51 yards.
The victory got Berthoud back to even at 1-1. As for Moffat County, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berthoud will venture away from home to take on Weld Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Moffat County, they will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Grand Valley at 7:00 p.m. on September 20th.
