San Marcos and Smithson Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The San Marcos Rattlers will be home for the holidays to greet the Smithson Valley Rangers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. San Marcos will be looking to keep their 23-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
San Marcos scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 91-59 win over Victoria West. With San Marcos ahead 43-23 at the half, the match was all but over already.
San Marcos relied on the efforts of Donavan Riddick, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Josiah Hollmon, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Hollmon's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zyair Jolivette, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Smithson Valley came up short against Stevens last Saturday and fell 60-50.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jake Goode, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Gavin Londrie was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: San Marcos have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 38.7 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Smithson Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 22.9 rebounds per game. Given San Marcos' sizeable advantage in that area, Smithson Valley will need to find a way to close that gap.
San Marcos came up short against Smithson Valley in their previous matchup back in November, falling 71-64. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Goode, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 1 assists. Now that San Marcos knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
