Baseball Recap: Chatham Has No Trouble Against Germantown

Chatham barely beat Germantown the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers put the hurt on the Clippers with a sharp 25-2 victory on Monday. That looming 25-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

Brayden Steltz was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Logan Smalley was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Kelly, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Chatham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Germantown only posted a batting average of .167.

The win made it two in a row for Chatham and bumps their season record up to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Germantown, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Chatham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Greenville on the 23rd. As for Germantown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-2 victory against Windham-Ashland-Jewett on the 23rd.
