Peachtree Academy has won four straight games at home, while Scholars Guild Academy has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. Peachtree Academy will host Scholars Guild Academy at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Peachtree Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Georgia's top teams: Covington Academy, who was ranked third at the time (Peachtree Academy was ranked fourth). Peachtree Academy had just enough and edged out Covington Academy 11-9.
Meanwhile, Scholars Guild Academy made easy work of Lyndon Academy on Monday and carried off a 16-5 victory. Fans of the Spartans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Madison Kenny made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, Scholars Guild Academy got a massive performance out of Noelle Boeckman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave Boeckman a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Alanna Maher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs.
Scholars Guild Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Scholars Guild Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Peachtree Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
