If the Freedom Eagles were riding high off their 51-10 takedown of the Miller School of Albemarle Mavericks on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Freedom fell 38-29 to Xaverian on Friday.
Freedom's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keilana Johnson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Angel Akinyemi, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Freedom now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Xaverian, the victory was the third in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 1-0.
Freedom won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Brooklyn Law & Tech at 5:35 p.m. on December 9th. Brooklyn Law & Tech presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Freedom in their respective states (Brooklyn Law & Tech is ranked 87th in New York, while Freedom is ranked 245th in Virginia). Xaverian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against St. John's at 10:40 a.m. on December 9th.
