Lincoln is 0-3 against Elkins since August of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Lincoln Wolves will be playing at home against the Elkins Elks at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lincoln entered their tilt with Berryville with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lincoln blew past Berryville, posting a 54-14 win on the road. With Lincoln ahead 48-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lincoln to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kale Jones, who rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also threw for eight yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Drew Moore, who threw for 273 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.3% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Elkins put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Gentry 54-0 at home. Given Elkins' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Gentry is ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Da' Shawn Chairs was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 49 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 54 receiving yards. James Townsend got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Lincoln's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Huntsville and 1-8 Westville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 17.1% over those games). As for Elkins, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Lincoln has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 204.8 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Elkins, though, as they've been averaging only 84.7 per game. How will Elkins fare against such a dominant running game?
Lincoln was taken down by Elkins 77-20 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Will Lincoln have more luck at home instead of on the road?
