The Eldon Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 78-60 win over Warsaw. Eldon's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Warsaw still got an impressive performance from Logan Gemes, who shot 4-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Those 27 points set a new season-high mark for him. Shane Poyser was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Warsaw were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eldon's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Warsaw, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eldon will take on Mountain Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Warsaw's road trip will continue as they head out to face Stover at 12:00 p.m. on December 21st. Stover presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Warsaw in Missouri (Stover is ranked 142nd, while Warsaw is ranked 419th).
