For the second straight game, South Decatur will face off against Waldron. The Cougars will take on the Mohawks at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: South Decatur has lost ten straight at home (dating back to last season), while Waldron has lost six on the road (also dating back to last season).
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, South Decatur turned things around against Waldron on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Mohawks with a sharp 19-1 win. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.
Riley Benge made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Benge was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Dalilah Martin was incredible, firing off five runs, four doubles, and two stolen bases while going 5-for-5. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Daisy Martin was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
South Decatur was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .697. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Waldron's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for South Decatur, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-6.
South Decatur's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game.
