The St. Stephens Indians posted their biggest win since December 20, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Statesville 62-27 at home. Given St. Stephens' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 190th, while Statesville is ranked 496th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Molli Harris was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Aubrey Gibbs was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
St. Stephens' win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Statesville, they bumped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their 17th straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Stephens will face off against Foard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Foard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday. Statesville on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hickory at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
