The Mount Horeb Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Lakeside Lutheran by a score of 52-50. While losing is never fun, Mount Horeb can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Lakeside Lutheran is ranked 101st).
Lakeside Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Paige Murphy, who scored 19 points along with five assists and three steals. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for Murphy. Another player making a difference was Kieghtan Rank, who scored ten points.
Mount Horeb now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Lakeside Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Horeb will be home for the holidays to greet McFarland at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in McFarland's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Lakeside Lutheran, they will be playing at home against Cambridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
