If the Intermountain Christian Lions were riding high off their 63-26 takedown of the St. Joseph Jayhawks on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Intermountain Christian took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of American Heritage on Friday. Intermountain Christian lost against American Heritage in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-17 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Intermountain Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Elaine Lunsford. Despite the final result, she scored 8 points along with 24 rebounds and 5 assists. Lunsford is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Menning, who scored 6 points.
Intermountain Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for American Heritage, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Manila the next time they take the court. American Heritage will head out to face Manila at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Intermountain Christian will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
