Santa Rosa Academy and Cornerstone Christian are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. Santa Rosa Academy will challenge Cornerstone Christian at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Santa Rosa Academy got the win against Hamilton by a conclusive 7-1. The Rangers haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Logan Ledesma made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.2 innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Ulrick, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Morace, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian waltzed into their contest on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Lancers with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Crusaders have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alec O'Sullivan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Steel Hoham was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those triples marked the first that he hit this season.
Santa Rosa Academy pushed their record up to 5-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 8.25 strikeouts in those games compared to only three in the others. As for Cornerstone Christian, their record is now 9-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Santa Rosa Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cornerstone Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Santa Rosa Academy suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Cornerstone Christian in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can Santa Rosa Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
