Brookside hasn't had much luck against Keystone recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cardinals will face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Brookside has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Brookside is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 20-17 to Firelands. On the bright side, the 17- run effort marked the Cardinals' highest-scoring contest to date.

Markie-Ann Aliff put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and 16 unearned) runs off 14 hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.
In other batting news, Khloe Racz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Leann Clark was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Keystone was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Firelands with a sharp 7-1 win.
Brooklyn Modock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Jordan Owca was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Armitage, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Keystone's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Brookside, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brookside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Keystone struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brookside couldn't quite get it done against Keystone in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
