The Mitchell Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season. They blew past Gaither 56-34. The score was close at the half, but Mitchell pulled away in the second half with 32 points.
Mitchell found their leader in underclassman Kaylana Little, who scored 20 points along with six steals. Little hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Tahlia Vazquez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Mitchell and bumps their season record up to 9-4. As for Gaither, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Mitchell will square off against Springstead at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springstead will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Gaither will take on Hillsborough at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
