The Standing Bear Grizzlies will square off against the Kearney Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Standing Bear is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
On Monday, Standing Bear earned a 13-9 victory over Elkhorn.
Kameron Foster made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Standing Bear let Jaxson Minzel and Jackson Froeschl run wild. Minzel got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Froeschl went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Standing Bear is undefeated when Minzel posts two or more runs, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cooper Schultz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Standing Bear was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Kearney and Bellevue East, and Kearney kept the tradition alive. The Bearcats had just enough and edged out the Chieftains 2-1.
Owen Waha tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Kearney's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Andersen, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Kearney has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Standing Bear, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
