Softball Recap: Carter Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Carter, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Kimball Knights 19-4 on Tuesday. Considering the Cowboys have won seven games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Matisse Edward made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Carter got a big performance out of Janique Bright, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Bright is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Chancecellia McCray was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Carter pushed their record up to 7-4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.8 runs over those games. As for Kimball, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
