Football Recap: Strong Performance on D from Armindev Bhatti and Juan Ulloa Leads Chavez over Delano

Delano came into Friday's game looking for another win against Chavez, but Armindev Bhatti wouldn't allow it. The Titans won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Tigers 27-26 thanks in part to Bhatti, who rushed for 20 yards and four TDs, and also picked up 50 receiving yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making six total tackles (2.0 for loss) in addition to snagging two interceptions.

Chavez didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bhatti and Juan Ulloa. Julian Cardenas was another major factor on D, picking up two sacks and making four total tackles.

Delano's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Raul Quezada, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one score. The Tigers are 3-1 when Quezada posts 100 or more receiving yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Daniel Romero was another key back, rushing for 64 yards and one touchdown on only six carries.

Chavez's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Delano, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Chavez wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 56-0 loss against Shafter on the 23rd. As for Delano, they have also already played their next game, a 42-0 defeat against Wasco on the 24th.
