The Covenant Day Lions will head out on the road to take on the Providence Day Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Covenant Day is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Even though Covenant Day has not done well against the Hawks recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Covenant Day came out on top against the Hawks by a score of 52-42. Given Covenant Day's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Hawks are ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tyree White was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elijah Green, who scored ten points.
Providence Day was handed a three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Knights on Tuesday. Providence Day blew past the Knights 62-40.
Covenant Day has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. As for Providence Day, they pushed their record up to 19-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Covenant Day didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Chargers in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 59-55 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Covenant Day since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
