Wills Point's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jett Fletcher, who rushed for 244 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 14.4 yards per carry. Larandion Dowden was another key contributor, rushing for 156 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry.
Meanwhile, Sunnyvale took their matchup on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 51-6 victory over Roosevelt. Given Sunnyvale's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 326th, while Roosevelt is ranked 1136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Wills Point to 4-3 and Sunnyvale to 5-2.
