In what's become a running theme this season, the Heritage Academy Gateway Heroes gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. Everything went their way against Empower College Prep as Heritage Academy Gateway made off with a 64-42 victory. The victory was familiar territory for Heritage Academy Gateway who now have seven in a row.
Leading Heritage Academy Gateway to victory were Cayleb Couch and Landon Johnston. Couch scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Johnston scored 19 points along with six steals. That's the first time this season that Couch scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Akin, who scored six points along with two steals and two blocks.
Heritage Academy Gateway's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Empower College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Heritage Academy Gateway will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Canyon State Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Empower College Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Mission Heights Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
