Green Run hasn't had much luck against Salem recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Stallions will square off against the Sundevils at 5:00 p.m. Green Run has given up an average of 13.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Green Run is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 19th straight game on Saturday. They lost 13-2 to Oscar Smith. That's two games in a row now that the Stallions have lost by exactly 11 runs.
CJ Jones made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Kenyon Wilkins, Jr. also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Salem hadn't done well against Indian River recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Sundevils put the hurt on the Braves with a sharp 10-3 victory. Considering the Sundevils' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Zachary Rigsby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leo Alvarado, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Cristian Cooper was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Salem's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-15. As for Green Run, their loss dropped their record down to 0-19.
Green Run suffered a grim 17-4 defeat to Salem in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Stallions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
