Shawnee Heights is 9-1 against the Chargers since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds will head out on the road to take on the West Chargers at 5:45 p.m. Shawnee Heights will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Shawnee Heights beat the PIONEERS 53-41. Given Shawnee Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while the PIONEERS are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, West scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 58-21 victory over Turner. The victory was just what West needed coming off of a 67-47 defeat in their prior game.
West got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zoe Clark out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Clark hasn't dropped below three steals for five straight games. Imani McGlory was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Shawnee Heights' record now sits at 9-6-1. West's record now sits at 6-9.
Everything came up roses for Shawnee Heights against the Chargers when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 58-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shawnee Heights since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
