The Holy Child Gryphons are ranked highly in their home state, and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Greens Farms Academy Dragons. Holy Child's tough 56-32 defeat to the Dragons might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Holy Child in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Holy Child saw an underclassman step up: Sofia Verlezza scored 14 points.
Holy Child's defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Greens Farms Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Holy Child will head out on the road to take on the Hilltoppers at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Greens Farms Academy, they will be playing at home against the Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
