It was another big night for Kody Dodson, who threw for 178 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. His passing game has become a key predictor of Chandler Prep's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Chandler Prep proved: they limited Lincoln Prep to a paltry -2.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least two total tackles, Avery Hamler stood above the rest. He rushed for 41 yards and one TD. Chandler Prep didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.5.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Chandler Prep, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dodson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, ALA - Anthem South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 36-6 defeat at the hands of Fountain Hills.
Chandler Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.8 points on average over those games. As for ALA - Anthem South, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Chandler Prep has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 152.7 rushing yards per game.
