Provine has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Natchez Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Provine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Natchez is ranked 77th).
Provine suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Monday. They took a serious blow against Florence, falling 59-31.
Meanwhile, Natchez unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 54-40 bruising from Florence. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Natchez in their matchups with Florence: they've now lost five in a row.
Natchez's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of RONIYA ELLIS, who scored 19 points along with two steals, and ZAMONIE WILSON who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. ELLIS is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Provine's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Natchez, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-6.
Provine ended up a good deal behind Natchez when the teams last played on January 9th, losing 69-55. Can Provine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
